font-family: 'Jost Medium'; font-size: 14pt;\">AquiSense CTO and Co-Founder, Dr. Jennifer Pag\u00e1n Receives\u00a0Bayh-Dole Coalition Award for Inventive UV-C Water Disinfection Technology<\/span><\/p><ul><li>Jennifer Pag\u00e1n began her UV-C LED research at UNC Charlotte while pursuing her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.<\/li><li>The Bayh-Dole Act of 1980 enabled Pag\u00e1n\u2019s technology to be licensed to Dot Metrics<br \/>where she joined them in 2005 to help commercialize her work.<\/li><li>Pag\u00e1n received support from UNC Charlotte and Federal funding to push her innovation with Dot Metrics forward.<\/li><li>Pag\u00e1n Co-Founded AquiSense with Oliver Lawal, Founder and CEO in 2015.<\/li><li>AquiSense UVC-LED systems are used in residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal applications to disinfect and provide clean water to a wide range of uses and industries.<\/li><\/ul><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Kentucky, US \u2013<\/b>\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">AquiSense, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder, Dr. Jennifer Pag\u00e1n received the 2025 Bayh-Dole Coalition American Innovator Award in Washington, D.C. on June 4th for her groundbreaking work with UV-C LED water disinfection technology created as a Ph.D. student at UNC Charlotte.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.6667px;\">Pag\u00e1n was featured in the Bayh-Dole Coalition&#8217;s 2025 &#8220;Faces of American Innovation&#8221; Our mercury-free, U.S.-manufactured water treatment systems exemplify how domestic innovation can drive both environmental stewardship and sustained technological leadership.&#8221;<\/span><\/p><p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.6667px;\">Dr. Pag\u00e1n invented a water disinfection technology that uses UV-C LED light, offering a compact and energy-efficient alternative to traditional mercury-based methods while pursuing her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at UNC Charlotte. Using funds from the federal Small Business Innovation Research program, she worked with UNC Charlotte spinout Dot Metrics Technologies to develop and commercialize the world&#8217;s first UV-C LED water disinfection system.
