The article attempts to help readers understand the UV LED market has evolved beyond the current public opinion of the LED market being &#8220;viable in the next 5 years&#8221; to &#8220;viable now and for the past few years, depending on the application&#8221;. In the article, the authors review the capabilities of LED devices in this industry, the state of LEDs in surface, air, and water disinfection with some emphasis on municipal water treatment.
