Despite a careful source selection and traceability, the risk of transmitting a viral disease remains. Therefore, a viral inactivation step in the manufacturing process is essential for meeting the current quality and safety requirements. Research proved that Act-O2-Hem loses its functionality with traditional viral inactivation methods like Gamma irradiation, pH treatment, and heat inactivation. Therefore, an alternative, safe, and simple viral inactivation method was needed that did not affect Act-O2-Hem.<br \/><br \/>UV-C light is often used in water, air, and surface disinfection. UV-C light can also disinfect animal-derived products.
